Eco-anthropology

My encounter and work with the late Professor Jean GUIART, an eminent anthropologist of Oceania, were decisive in developing an expertise in understanding the place that sharks held in Melanesian and Polynesian cosmogonies and religions.

This return to the roots is fundamental to identifying the cultural levers for the acceptance of protection measures.

The full scope of these relationships between humans and the animal in ancestral Oceania is compiled in two books, co-written with Prof. Guiart — “Requins d’Océanie”, in 2015 — and with Dr Frédéric Torrente, more specifically on wildlife eco-tourism, in 2016.
